KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Eagles used a balanced attack to snap a long losing streak Friday night, defeating the Culver-Stockton Wildcats in four sets inside Mabee Fieldhouse.

The Eagles (4-21, 2-10) had five different players record five or more kills on Friday, a season high, as they won the final three sets to pick up a victory over Culver-Stockton (7-16, 1-9). It was Avila's second victory inside the Heart this season, and it kept their hopes alive for continuing their season in the Heart Postseason Tournament.

Avila dropped the first set, 18-25, but turned it on from there, picking up a hard-fought 25-23 victory in set two before taking control with a 25-18 victory in the third set. Avila won the match with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set.

Friday's win was the ultimate team victory for the Eagles as no player finished with double digit kills. Laurel Dehn led the way with nine kills, with Elli Wright and Paige Rackers each adding eight apiece. Cydney Newton added seven kills and Erin Jones finished with six as the Eagles picked up a big comeback victory over Culver-Stockton.

Newton and senior Dani Carlson split the setting duties on Friday night, with Newton finishing with 18 assists and Carlson adding 16 in the victory. Lindsey Butler added six assists to go along with 15 digs. Four different Eagles had double-digit digs in the win, with Newton leading the way with 18. Wright added 14 and Brittany Castillo finished with 10.

The victory snapped a 15-match losing streak for the Eagles, one that stretched just over a calendar month. Before Friday night's victory, the last win for Avila came on November 5th at home against Central Methodist.
