KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Eagles gave up a pair of goals in both the first and secold halves as they were unable to come away victorious on Senior Day, falling 4-1 to William Penn at The Z.

The Eagles (5-8, 1-6) honored their six seniors ahead of Saturday's match with William Penn (7-4-1, 4-3), but they were unable to give them a win as they struggled defensively in a 4-1 loss to the Statesmen.

Despite giving up four goals, Eagle goalkeeper Patrick Elliot had one of the better games of his career, making eight saves, including two on penalty kicks that helped keep his team within striking distance. The Lee's Summit native now has 48 saves on the season.

William Penn took control with a pair of first half goals, including a goal from Daniel Hernandez just four minutes into the match.

Avila's lone goal came in the 67th minute when freshman Jake Gaynor chipped a shot over William Penn goalkeeper Guillermo Pineda to put the Eagles on the board. The goal was the seventh on the season for Gaynor, who extended the Avila freshman record for goals scored in a season in the DakStats era, which dates back to 2004.

The Eagles will return to action on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. when they face off with the Culver-Stockton Wildcats in Canton, Mo.
