SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Eagles were swept on Tuesday night at Evangel, settling for a season split against the Crusaders in Heart of America Athletic Conference play.

Avila (4-22, 2-11) fell behind early to Evangel (9-17, 5-8) in the first set, and were unable to recover as they dropped the set, 18-25. They were able to add points to their final score in the next two sets, but could never get over the hump as they fell 21-25 and 22-25 in the final two sets.

Freshman Elli Wright shined on what was a tough night for the Eagles, finishing with 9 kills and 8 digs while committing just one error in the loss. Wright now has 191 kills in her debut season for the Eagles to go with 23 aces and 246 digs.

Senior Laurel Dehn added six kills in the match to up her season total to 196, leaving her just four shy of reaching 200 for the third consecutive season.

The Eagles will return to action on Thursday night when they travel to take on the Haskell Fighting Indians at 7 p.m. in Lawrence, Kansas in a non-conference matchup.
