Courses
The men's and women's golf programs at Avila University have daily access to the extensive practice facilities and array of playing options found at Kansas City's Swope Memorial and Heart of America Golf Courses. Through a partnership with Orion Management Solutions, these designated Avila University Athletics Facilities provide members of the golf program the opportunity to work on every aspect of their game.

Swope Memorial Golf Course
Marked by a classic winding entrance befitting the course perched atop the highest point in Kansas City's Swope Park, this tree-lined shotmaker's delight was designed in 1934 by the famous golf architect A.W. Tillinghast. Tillinghast, known for his major works Winged Foot, Baltusrol, and Bethpage Black, created a course that tests every shot in the player's bag through a combination of uneven lies, strategically placed bunkers, blind shots, and numerous multi-tiered greens. Zoysia fairways, thick bluegrass rough, and bent grass greens allow for excellent playing conditions year-round. As the former home of a PGA Tour stop, Ben Hogan and Sam Snead once walked these fairways. Later, a local kid by the name of Tom Watson competed here. More recently, the 2005 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links was played at Swope Memorial.
Heart of America Golf Course
A double-ended driving range highlighted by extensive target areas, Zoysia and bluegrass hitting tees, and a state-of-the-art synthetic turf tee system together with multiple short game practice areas form the centerpiece of this expansive practice facility. Three courses are available for play: The River, The Rock, and The Hill. The River is a par 35 executive course with holes ranging from 138 to 482 yards situated on a rolling, water-filled landscape. The Rock is a par 3 course perfect for working on scoring with wedge play and short irons. The Hill, the prototype for First Tee courses around the country, is a 3-hole short course and short game practice area designed by Tom Watson.
