ANNIKA HOLTORF AND MALCOLM GOSWELL NAMED AVILA ATHLETICS ACADEMIC ATHLETES OF THE YEAR
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dominating in the classroom and on the soccer pitch, seniors Annika Holtorf and Malcolm Goswell have been selected as the 2026 Avila Athletics Academic Athletes of the Year.
Annika Holtorf, a senior women’s soccer player from Oak Grove, Mo., and Malcolm Goswell, a senior men’s soccer player from Raymore, Mo., excelled in the classroom just as they excelled throughout the KCAC for Avila’s soccer programs.
“The achievements of Annika and Malcolm remind us that hard work, discipline and determination create excellence in every area from the classroom to competition,” said Shawn Summe, Avila’s Vice President of Athletics and Student Affairs and Chief Mission Integration Officer. “Both are competitive on the soccer field, and they compete just as hard in the classroom. Annika and Malcolm will be successful after college because they are next-level thinkers who have an inner drive to do all things well in life."
We will continue announcing our 2026 Avila Athletics End of Season Awards on Thursday as we unveil our Upset of the Year and Moment of the Year on May 14.
