EAGLES SUMMER OFF TO A BIG START WITH FUNDRAISERS AND FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Just over a month since the university’s 2025-26 graduation, Avila Athletics has made some big improvements thanks to generous donations from our supporters.

With the help of a very generous anonymous lead donation, a new track has been installed on the upper level of Mabee Fieldhouse. The 1/11-mile indoor track is a major upgrade for student-athletes and the local Avila community. The new rubber track painted in Avila’s purple and gold re-introduced a track around Mabee Fieldhouse for the first time since the installation of the Fieldhouse’s new bleachers.

Beginning in the spring, Avila’s athletic facilities have also received a facelift with the installation of four new digital scoreboards – two each on The Z’s outdoor field and indoors at Mabee Fieldhouse.

Constructed by Digital Scoreboards, nearly all of Avila University s 18 varsity athletic programs will utilize the new LED video boards and scoreboards for the upcoming athletic seasons.

Now with the ability to involve video, photo and new audio improvements to the gameday atmospheres, The Z and Mabee Fieldhouse will be the place to be moving forward, improving the Eagle brand and environments throughout the athletic seasons, helping Eagle student-athletes compete to the best of their abilities.

On the fundraising front, Avila relied on two huge spring events to continue growing its athletic programs.

On April 25, Avila hosted its seventh-annual Trivia Night inside Mabee Fieldhouse. It was the first event utilizing Mabee’s new videoboards and scorer’s table into the night’s festivities. One of the best nights on the Eagle calendar raised more than $12,500.

A few weeks later, the Eagles went to Brookridge Golf Club in Overland Park for the 2026 Avila Athletics Golf Tournament.

With more than 100 golfers participating to raise money for the department, Avila brought in over $13,000 on a picturesque day in south Kansas City.

Avila has 18 varsity athletic programs and Eagle student-athletes, supporters and donors play a huge role in the community. Be sure to support all Avila athletic programs in the 2026-27 season and check out the new improvements to the athletic facilities.
