BASEBALL FALLS TO KWU
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In a game that was delayed by two hours due to cold Kansas City weather, Avila baseball lost on Friday to Kansas Wesleyan, 14-4.
Despite giving up 14 runs, the Eagles competed much better on Friday compared to Thursday's loss to the Coyotes.
A much more vocal and energetic Avila dugout helped the Eagles put up four runs on seven hits in the contest – including two RBI from Joey Reichmuth and another from Vinny Neilson.
Reichmuth drove in a pair and scored a run to account for three of Avila's four runs on the afternoon.
The Coyotes put up multiple runs in five different innings at The Z and Avila's pitching was highlighted by a shutout fifth inning from Jackson Foster.
Only one game was played in the originally-scheduled doubleheader as sunlight would not cooperate late in the Midwest winter as the second game of the doubleheader is postponed to a later date.
Avila is back in action on Tuesday from The Z, hosting Evangel at 2 PM.
