BASEBALL FALLS AT MCPHERSON
MCPHERSON, Kan. – Avila baseball couldn't match McPherson's steady hitting on Friday afternoon, falling to the Bulldogs, 6-1.
A two-RBI double in the second inning got McPherson on the board first and they followed that up with a pair of run-scoring singles in the fourth to take a 4-0 lead.
Avila got on the scoreboard with a solo home run from JJ Stubblefield in the sixth inning.
McPherson added two more runs in the seventh inning to put the game out of reach.
The Eagles had a handful of scoring opportunities in the game, but couldn't capitalize, going 0-5 with the bases loaded in the game.
Stubblefield led the Eagles, going 3-for-4. The Avila centerfielder was joined by its left fielder, Tommy English, who went 2-4 with a walk on the afternoon.
The two teams will meet again for a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is slated for 11 AM.
