KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Avila baseball lost to Sterling, 13-1, in seven innings on Saturday, opening up its stretch of eight games in six days.
The Warriors' offense got on the board early, putting up a run in the first and four in the second.
Avila was unable to get much going offensively, scoring once in the bottom of the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Tommy English.
Sterling put up a five-spot in the top of the fifth and added a pair in the sixth and another in the seventh to finalize its 13-run effort.
The two teams are back at it for a doubleheader on Sunday. First pitch from The Z is at 11 AM.
