FOOTBALL TAKEN DOWN AT EVANGEL

NIXA, Mo. – Avila football on Saturday traveled to southern Missouri to face Evangel, but the Valor controlled the contest for all 60 minutes, taking the game 44-3.

Evangel scored three first-half touchdowns on three touchdown passes from QB Reid Potts.

Avila's Juan Delgado-Medina added his fifth field goal of the season to get the Eagles on the scoreboard, yet trailing 21-3 at the half.

Evangel added two rushing touchdowns and a fourth passing touchdown in the second half to finish with a 44-3 win.

The Valor out-gained the Eagles 391-170 on the afternoon. Avila junior defensive back Ajani Beamon picked off Evangel's Potts on their first offensive play of the game. Unfortunately for the Eagles, that would the one of the only defensive highlights of the contest.

The Eagles will spend the upcoming few days on their bye week and return to action on October 19 at Kansas Wesleyan. They return to The Z on October 26 versus Tabor.
