Boone Earns Third-Team All-KCAC Honors
WICHITA, Kan. -- In Avila's first season as a member of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference, junior Shandon Boone was named a third-team All-Conference selection. Student-athletes were selected for all awards, announced by the conference office today, by vote of the KCAC head men's basketball coaches.
Boone finished the season ranked fourth in the league with 19.62 pts/gm, good for 28th nationwide, and second in the KCAC (24th nationally) in free-throw percentage, hitting at a .839 clip. He passed the 1,000-point mark on Jan. 26, against Sterling and has added 214 rebounds and 205 assists through his career.
The Eagles of Oklahoma Wesleyan University are the regular season champions, ending the season with a 22-2 conference record and ranked No. 1 in the most recent NAIA Division-II Poll. KCAC men's basketball coaches named Donnie Bostwick of Oklahoma Wesleyan, Coach of the Year.
Cameron Hunt of Southwestern College earns Player of the Year honors, while Joshua Wilchombe of Oklahoma Wesleyan University was awarded Defensive Player of the Year. James Brooks of Kansas Wesleyan University earned Newcomer of the Year, and Jaylon Scott of Bethel College was named Freshman of the Year.
