MEN’S BOWLING NABS SECOND PLACE AT KCAC TOURNAMENT
SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Continuing to build a young program, the Avila bowling team took a big step on Saturday at the KCAC Championships with the men's side finishing in second place.
"We bowled fantastic, we really gelled as a team," said head coach Paul Wolf, the only leader the Avila bowling program has known.
Avila knocked off Kansas Wesleyan in Round 1, following that up by defeating Hastings in the second round and beating Ottawa in Round 3, setting up a rematch with Kansas Wesleyan in the Championship.
The Eagle men bowled the Coyotes very closely in the finals, but were unable to take the victory, losing 4-3 in the first match and 4-2 in the second.
On the women's side, Avila left a few too many frames open, losing to McPherson in Round 1 and falling to Morningside to end their tournament.
"I couldn't be happier with the way the team bowled and the sportsmanship they showed this weekend," Wolf noted. "This goes a long way in progressing the program and it shows that Avila is a contender moving forward."
Both programs now turn their sights to the ITC Sectionals on March 8 and 9 in Fort Worth, Texas.
