BOWLING QUALIFIES FOR ITC SECTIONALS FOR SECOND-STRAIGHT YEAR
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After qualifying for the first time in program history last season, Avila Bowling followed up their performance by qualifying for the ITC Sectionals for a second-consecutive season on March 14 and 15 in Fort Worth, Texas.
One of the biggest postseason events in collegiate bowling, 80 teams will compete across four locations throughout the country next month.
“This is a huge deal,” said Avila head coach Paul Wolf. “Going into the season, I expected our men to qualify, especially after how they brought it on in the second semester.
“Our women’s program is so young, but they pulled it through and came on strong in our final two events this season. Qualifying two years in a row for both programs is big.”
The ITC Sectionals are the last process of elimination leading to the Intercollegiate Team Championships. The four highest-scoring teams – based on the total pinfall from 64 Baker games – will advance to the ITC Nationals in Green Bay, Wis., in April.
Avila will be joined from programs throughout the NCAA and NAIA levels at Cityview Lanes in Fort Worth next month, including KCAC programs Kansas Wesleyan and Ottawa, as well as NCAA Division I programs in Arizona State and Wichita State
Prior to March’s ITC event, the Eagles are competing this weekend in the KCAC Championships in Lawrence, Kan., on Saturday at 9 AM.
