Golf: Livingston hits the links at Arrowhead Stadium
Kansas City, MO - Avila golfer Taylor Livingston played an interesting round of golf last Wednesday, teeing off from the upper level of Arrowhead Stadium, the home of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Avila head coach Chad Habluetzel was contacted earlier in May about an opportunity for members of his golf team to play a practice round of golf at Arrowhead Stadium to test out a new concept that involves turning a stadium into a golf course, and he contacted Livingston, who happily obliged.
Livingston was asked to trial-play a unique golf course inside the football home of the Kansas City Chiefs. Hitting off a raised platform some 65 feet above what is normally the football field, Livingston struck the ball at 9 different holes constructed on the turf below.
Livingston hit a series of shots at each pin on Wednesday in front of a small crowd of onlookers, and according to Habluetzel, he put on a show.
"Taylor is the best on the team with his wedges, so this course was perfect," Habluetzel said. "He was sticking balls within ten feet of the pin, and the small crowd of onlookers were pretty impressed with his play."
This same concept of turning a stadium into a golf course was constructed at Petco Park in San Diego, California in 2015, and pulled in raving reviews. (The Links at Petco Park)
