M. Golf: Eagles sweep match play over Haskell

Kansas City, MO - The men's golf team dominated in match play over the weekend against Haskell University, with all five Eagles picking up a win in Bonner Springs, Kan.

The match play event took place at Sunflower Hills Golf Course in Bonner Springs, Kan. on Saturday afternoon, and despite playing in a tournament earlier in the week, the golfers did not show any signs of tiring, sweeping the event.

The weather held up nicely for the Avila and Haskell golfers, allowing for the event to take place before heavy rain set in on Saturday night.

Jackson Gurley and Kirk Humphrey each won, 6-4, while Taylor Livingston picked up a 4-3 victory. Ben Travers picked up a 3-2 win, and Josh Berze earned a 1 up for the clean sweep.

The Eagles will get a week off before returning to tournament play in Kansas City, Mo. on Oct. 3 and 4 at The Dominic at Swope Memorial Golf Course. The tournament is hosted by Avila, and it is the second year for the annual tournament.
