SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – In their opening match of 2024 KCAC play, the Avila men's soccer program was shut out by Evangel, 3-0 on Wednesday night.

Evangel had three different goal scorers in the conference opener. After a 21^st-minute goal, the Valor entered halftime with a 1-0 lead.

Before Avila could muster a comeback attempt, Evangel scored less than three minutes into the second half and added a third goal in the 80^th minute to eventually finish the scoreline at 3-0.

The Eagles recorded three shots in each half, compared with the Valor's 20 total shots. Avila goalkeeper Harrison Ennis recorded eight saves on the night.

Avila travels to McPherson on Saturday afternoon before returning to The Z to face Saint Mary on September 25 at 3:30 PM.
