KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Following a presentation to honor the team's seven seniors before kickoff, Avila took the emotions of the day and funneled it into one of their best all around performances in quite some time, defeating Bethany 3-0 on Saturday at The Z.

The Eagles jumped on the Swedes early and often. Avila had eight corner kick opportunities, before finding the back of the net for the first time in the 38^th minute.

Off a perfectly placed pass from senior Vincent Escott, Henry Coffie netted the first goal of the afternoon.

Avila was looking for more.

Just over three minutes later, Escott, off a free kick, hit a low line drive past the keeper's grasp for Avila's second goal of the match. The Eagles entered halftime with a 2-0 lead, playing arguably their best soccer of the season.

A quiet second half was disrupted by one of the prettiest goals you will see anywhere.

Playing one of the best games of his career, Escott played a beautiful cross to Malachi Saffrey, who headed it into goal for his second goal of the season and the third of the day for Avila.

The Eagles put up a season-high 18 shots in the game and attempted 13 corner kicks.

Avila's three goals were their highest total of the season and it was the first shutout by the Eagles since September 2023.

Eagles goalkeeper Naguib Nassir saved every shot he faced for his first shutout since 2021-22.

Avila will travel to Tabor on Oct. 26 for its final conference road match of the season.
