KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Avila men's soccer extended its losing streak to three on Wednesday afternoon, falling 7-1 to Ottawa at The Z.
Avila was no match for the Ottawa attack in the midweek KCAC matchup, as the Braves put up three goals in the first half.
The Eagles were able to get on the board midway through the first and snap their scoreless streak, thanks to a Malcolm Goswell goal off a penalty kick.
Ricky Lopata was taken down in the box and Goswell stepped to the spot and buried it past the keeper. It was Goswell's third goal of the season. The goal helped Avila enter halftime with a 3-1 deficit.
Ottawa added four more in the second half to finalize the 7-1 scoreline.
The Braves dominated the offensive end of the pitch, outshooting Avila 39-10 and attempting 10 corner kicks to the Eagles' one.
Avila goalkeeper Harrison Ennis put up a valiant effort in net, saving 19 shots while playing the full 90 minutes.
Avila hits the road on Saturday, traveling to Sterling to take on the Warriors at 3 PM.
