LAST-MINUTE COMEBACK SNAPS MEN’S SOCCER’S LOSING STREAK

HILLSBORO, Kan. – Two goals in the final eight minutes of play snapped Avila men's soccer's seven-game losing streak with a 2-1 victory at Tabor on Saturday night.

The Bluejays got on the scoreboard early with a goal in the third minute, but Avila goalkeeper Harrison Ennis would keep the home squad at bay for the remainder of the game.

The 83rd minute is where Avila made its mark on one of the best goals you'll see all season.

After a save by Ennis, the goalkeeper booted it more than 70 yards, taking one bounce before finding the head of Will Day who headed the ball past the Tabor keeper to tie the game up at 1-1.

Shortly after, playing quickly in an attempt to get the go-ahead goal, Malcolm Goswell sprinted down the near sideline, crossed the ball into the box with a perfectly-placed ball and found the foot of Beck Snowden for an 88th-minute goal and the eventual winner, sending the Avila bench into pandemonium.

The goals from the two Eagle freshmen were big for Avila, with Day's marking the first of his college career, while Snowden's was his fourth of the season, gave him the team-lead on the 2025 season.

Avila is back in action on Wednesday night, traveling to Leavenworth for a 7:30 kickoff with St. Mary.
