Boyer adds Prout, Richardson to Coaching Staff

Kansas City, MO – As the inaugural track and field season at Avila University quickly approaches, head men's and women's coach Anthony Boyer has been busy, adding two coaches to his staff for the upcoming season.

He announced last week that Glenn Prout and Chelsea Richardson have been added to the staff, with Prout focusing on recruiting and field events, and Richardson focusing mainly on horizontal jumps.

Boyer said that having the two new coaches added to the staff will give his athletes more detailed training and more one-on-one time.

"When you are starting a new program, it is important to have as much experience as possible, and adding Coach Prout and Coach Richardson does just that," said Boyer. "Both coaches competed at high levels in college, and their experience is going to help our athletes be able to trainer harder and smarter, and just make us that much better."

Prout comes to Avila with a background primarily at the NCAA Division III level. He most recently served as the recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for the track & field and cross country programs at Texas Lutheran University. At Texas Lutheran University, Prout's primary function was recruiting athletes into a men's cross country and track & field program which started in the fall of 2014, so he has experience in start-up programs.

Prout is a graduate of Knox College, where he competed in both football and track and field. He is on the Knox College all-time top-10 individual list for the long jump and the triple jump, and is in the top-10 in 13 different categories as a punter for the football team.

Richardson joins the Eagles after a great career for the University of Missouri-Kansas City Roos. While with the Roos, Richardson was part of the relay team that broke the 4x100 mark that had stood at UMKC for 13 years. Also, in 2013, she had the third-longest triple jump in school history.

Richardson was also a great high school athlete, earning all-state and all-conference honors twice, and serving as team captain during her senior year at Cardinal Ritter High School in St. Louis, Mo. She was a member of the 4x200-meter relay team that took second at state in 2008, 2009 and 2010, and earned conference championships in 2008 and 2009. She also lettered all four years in basketball, and one year in cheerleading.

Avila is set to kick off their inaugural season on Jan. 24 at the Snow Bird Open in Jacksonville, Ill. The event is a single-day event.
