Eagles Find Success at Snow Bird Open
Kansas City, MO – Jenna Rangel headlined a successful day for the Avila men's and women's track team on Saturday, qualifying for the Women's 60 Meter Final and finishing in eighth at the Snow Bird Open in Jacksonville, Ill.
In all, six athletes competed for Avila at the Snow Bird Open on Saturday, with the Eagles earning six top ten finishes at their first ever meet as a program.
Along with the eighth place finish in the Women's 60 Meter Dash with a time of 8.35 seconds, Rangel earned an eighth place finish in the 200 Meter Dash (27.55 sec.) and a fourth place finish in the 400 Meter Dash (1:03.52). Her fourth place finish was the best overall finish for any Eagle on Saturday.
Karli Wilson and Sara Montgomery also competed in the 200 Meter Dash and 400 Meter Dash on Saturday. Wilson earned 25th place (29.02 sec.) in the 200 Meter and tenth (1:06.39) in the 400 Meter, while Montgomery finished 36th (29.91 sec.) and fifteenth (1:09.90), respectively.
Sarah Krig rounded out the day for the Avila women's side, competing in both the 60 Meter Hurdles and the Shot Put. Krig earned an eleventh place finish in the hurdles with a time of 10.3 seconds, and finished tenth overall in the Shot Put with a distance of 10.2 Meters.
For the men, Matt Scaletty competed in three events and Kainon Clark competed in two. Scaletty ran in the 60 Meter Dash, the 200 Meter Dash and the 400 Meter dash while Clark competed in both the Shot Put and the Weight Throw.
Scaletty finished in 21st place in the 60 Meter Dash with a time of 7.42 seconds. He earned a 13th place finish in the 200 Meter with a time of 23.74 seconds and he finished tenth overall in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 53.91 seconds. Clark earned a 14th place finish in the Shot Put with a top overall throw of 12.48 Meters and he earned a 17th place finish in the Weight Throw with his best throw traveling 11.83 Meters.

The Eagles will continue their indoor season on Jan. 30 when they travel to Overland Park, Kan. to compete in the JCCC Open on the campus of Johnson County CC.
