Track & Field Preview: Cavalier Night Relays
Overland Park, KS – After a successful first week that saw the Avila Track & Field team earn six Top 10 finishes, the Eagles will travel across the state line to compete in the Cavalier Night Relays on Friday night at Johnson County Community College.
The meet is set to begin at 4 p.m. with the field events, beginning with the women's pole vault. The first scheduled event that will involve an Avila athlete will be the weight throw, which is the 4th scheduled event of the evening.
Avila will have 8 athletes compete at Johnson County, including Jenna Rangel and Matthew Scaletty, who each had strong days at the Snow Bird Open last Saturday in Avila's first ever track meet for the track program.
Of the 8 athletes that will compete on Friday, 5 competed at the Snow Bird Open, and 3 will be competing for the first time for the track team, including Will Ennis, DaVeion Sullivan, and Amber Jones.
Scaletty and Sarah Krig will each compete in 3 events at the Cavalier Night Relays, with Scaletty set to compete in the 60-meter dash, the 200-meter dash, and the 400-meter dash. Krig will compete in the high jump, shot put, and 60-meter hurdles on Friday.
