TIGHT THREE SETS FOR MEN’S VOLLEYBALL IN LOSS AT KWU
SALINA, Kan. – As the season goes on, Avila men's volleyball continues to take big strides of improvement, as shown in a close, three-set loss at Kansas Wesleyan on Tuesday.
The first set saw seven lead changes throughout with neither squad holding more than a three-point lead.
After being down 21-18, Avila tied the set up at 21 before Kansas Wesleyan ended on a 4-1 run to wrap the set, 25-22.
Another seven lead changes came in the second set as the Coyotes held a six-point lead late until the Eagles neared the end of the set on a run.
KWU led 22-16 late in the frame and Avila went on a 6-2 run to force a set point for the Coyotes. A service error by Kansas Wesleyan brought Avila to within one, but the Coyotes sent the Eagles away, taking the second set, 25-23.
Kansas Wesleyan took control in the third, winning 25-16, but Avia showed plenty of signs of growth throughout the match.
Sebastian Williams tied a career-high with 12 kills while Jake Fogle's 13 assists were the second-best of his career and Sebastian Rodriguez set a career-high with 10 digs.
