MORE TIGHT BATTLES IN MEN’S VOLLEYBALL LOSS TO KANSAS WESLEYAN

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Avila men's volleyball is still looking for that first win as the program continues to make big strides throughout the season as the Eagles lost to the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan on Tuesday, 3-0.

The Eagles continued to play close with their opponent in all three sets – especially the middle frame – at Mabee Fieldhouse.

In the opener, Avila held a lead throughout the early part of the set, leading 12-10, before a 4-0 KWU run put the Coyotes in front.

Avila tied the game up and brought it back to within three late before Kansas Wesleyan took the opener, 25-19.

The middle frame saw another lead for Avila, gathering the first three points and leading throughout the set, all the way until 20-19.

Just five points away from taking the set, Avila let up a 6-1 run from Kansas Wesleyan to fall, 25-21 in the second.

Avila led 5-3 early in the third set until Kansas Wesleyan took control and led for the remainder, stretching its lead to as much as six and taking the third and final set, 25-19.

Sebastian Williams' 13 kills were a season-high, as were Alan Uncal-Ramirez's 25 assists.

The Eagles are back at home on Saturday, taking on Clarke at 12 PM at Mabee Fieldhouse.
