MEN’S WRESTLING LOSES DUAL TO FRIENDS

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In what was supposed to be a tri that was impacted by winter weather in the Midwest, Avila men's wrestling took on conference foe Friends in a dual on Friday at Mabee Fieldhouse for the second-consecutive home competition for the Eagles.

Friends would come out on top, 37-12, but Avila had a number of strong individual performances.

The first of Avila's three wins on the afternoon came from Ryan McNeel in the 133-pound class. McNeel won via fall over Isaac Perez of Friends, picking up six team points for the Eagles.

Two matches later, Logan Johnson won via 10-6 decision in the 149-pound class and in the final match of the day, Blake Becker picked up three points for Avila with a 4-0 decision over Payton Douglas in the 197-pound weight class.

Avila had two opens in the dual, dropping 12 points in the final score.

The Eagles have a quick turnaround as they travel across the state line to face Ottawa at 6 PM on Tuesday.
