MEN’S WRESTLING PUTS UP BIG PERFORMANCE IN TWO DUALS

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – Avila men's wrestling traveled to Oklahoma Wesleyan to take on two intra-conference rivals in a pair of duals on Thursday night, defeating Bethany, 44-0 and falling to OKWU, 37-18.

Against the Swedes, Avila didn't lose a single match, going 3-0 and winning five matches by forfeit.

In the 141-pound class, Logan Johnson took down Warrezi Mitchell via fall in 3:51.

The Eagles continued their winning ways, with Kendric Gordon winning via 6-4 decision over Triston Vande Velde in the 184-pound class.

In their final match against Bethany, Jeremiah Sanders defeated Marcus Hester with a tech fall (25-10) in the 285-pound class.

Following three matches against the Swedes, Avila's wrestlers took on the hosts, Oklahoma Wesleyan.

As a team, Avila would fall 37-18, but still had positive showings.

Logan Johnson finished his day 2-0, after securing a win over OKWU's Dregen Murphy with a fall in just 54 seconds.

In the extra match, Ryan McNeel defeated Daniel Glenn with an 8-1 decision.

The Eagles next competition will be the KCAC Championship at Mabee Fieldhouse on February 21.
