MEN’S WRESTLING HAS A PAIR OF PLACERS AT PRESTIGIOUS MISSOURI VALLEY INVITE

MARSHALL, Mo. – Continuing his strong season, Rodney Trotter Jr. was joined by Tyler Johnson as Avila's placers at the two-day Missouri Valley Invite on Friday and Saturday.

Trotter Jr., in the 197-pound class, finished No. 7 after picking up four wins. The junior notched three wins via major decision and a fourth from a 12-10 decision.

Johnson, in the 141-pound division, finished in eighth. Johnson tallied three wins via fall and a fourth from a 5-4 decision.

Avila had 10 other wrestlers compete in the invitational. Competing in his first event since the first semester, Jeremiah Voliva notched a 2-1 decision win in the 184-pound division.

Freshman Dru Thomas picked up two wins – including a major decision victory. Aidan Pina was the other Eagle with multiple victories, including a pin in just 41 seconds and an 8-5 decision.

Avila is back on the mat at Mabee Fieldhouse on Thursday at 7 PM for Senior Night versus Ottawa.
