King, Roth Earn Top-20 Finishes At Haskell Invite

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Tyler King (12th, 28:32.64) and Matt Roth (18th, 29:02.57) claimed top-20 finishes for the Avila men's cross country team at the 2019 Haskell Invitational on Saturday. The team posted a seventh-place finish in the meet with a total time of 2:35:21.36 (31:04.28 avg) on the 8K course.

Facing a tough and hilly course, the men's squad posted improved times across the board in the event. Tom Bettis recorded a time of 30:48.19, good for 42nd, with Thomas Roth crossing the finish line just 14 seconds later (21:02.78) in 44th. Myelle Tealer rounded out the squad with a time of 35:55.54.

Next up for the squad is the NAIA Mid-States Classic, hosted by Southwestern College. The start time for the 8K meet is set for 11 a.m. on October 26th.
