WOMEN’S BASKETBALL’S SEASON ENDS AT TABOR

HILLSBORO, Kan. – Avila women's basketball's best season in four years came to an end on Saturday with a 68-43 loss at Tabor.

Tabor outscored Avila 24-10 in the first quarter and the Eagles were never able to overcome the deficit.

Avila trailed by 20 at halftime after Tabor shot 57 percent from the floor in the first half.

The Eagles only knocked down one shot from long range on Saturday and turned the ball over 19 times, leading to 22 Bluejays points.

Marlie Wright with 15 and Madilyn Melton with 11 were Avila's leading scorers on the day.

A season that saw its two star players go over the 1,000-point mark in their collegiate careers in Melton and Wright ended with 14 wins for Avila, its highest single-season total since 2021-22. 

With plenty of momentum after increasing their win total by six, head coach Remy Wolfe's Eagles have a solid foundation heading into next season.
