MELTON AND WRIGHT SELECTED TO WOMEN’S BASKETBALL ALL-KCAC SQUADS

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Wrapping up their stellar Eagle careers, Avila women’s basketball’s Madilyn Melton and Marlie Wright were selected to a pair of All-KCAC teams, the conference announced today.

“As a staff we are extremely proud of Madilyn and Marlie for earning All-KCAC honors,” said Head Coach Remy Wolfe. “They are two incredible young women who represent our program very well on and off the floor. We wouldn’t have had the season we did without them and their leadership.”

After finishing No. 4 in the conference in scoring, No. 4 in field goal percentage and tied for No. 6 in rebounds, senior forward Madilyn Melton was selected All-KCAC Third Team.

“Madilyn had an outstanding year and is very much deserving of the KCAC recognition,” noted Wolfe. “It has been a privilege to watch her become the dominant player she has been over the last three years. She has meant so much to our program and I’m so blessed to have gotten the opportunity to coach her.”

Guard Marlie Wright was named to the All-KCAC Honorable Mention squad after finishing her season No. 5 in the conference in points, second in free throws made, fifth in assists and No. 8 in total steals.

Wolfe: “Marlie did so much for our team this year and is more than deserving of KCAC recognition. Whatever was needed, she did it in order to put us in the best situation to win games. She works incredibly hard and has meant a lot to our program the last three years. I’m grateful for the opportunity to coach Marlie and watch her grow during her career at Avila.”

It is the second-consecutive postseason honor for two of Avila’s leaders, as both players were selected All-KCAC Honorable Mention following the 2024-25 season.

Melton and Wright both averaged career-highs in scoring this season. Melton bumped her per-game scoring average up from 14.0 as a junior to 16.9 as a senior. Wright finished last season scoring 13.2 points per contest and jumped that average to 15.9 this season.

Both players also achieved career milestones during KCAC play in 2025-26. On Jan. 17 versus McPherson, Melton scored her 1,000th collegiate point and hauled in her 500th collegiate rebound. Wright followed that occasion up by knocking down a go-ahead three-pointer on Feb. 14 versus Sterling to go over the 1,000-point mark of her career.

In addition to their individual accomplishments, Melton and Wright played instrumental roles in helping Avila women’s basketball increase their win total by six compared to the 2024-25 campaign.

Avila has now had at least one member of its women’s basketball program selected to an All-KCAC team in each of its eight seasons in the conference.
