WOMEN’S SOCCER LOSES TO NORTHWESTERN

WOMEN’S SOCCER LOSES TO NORTHWESTERN

LEE'S SUMMIT, MO. – Letting up three early goals in the first half doomed Avila women's soccer, as they were unable to overcome the early deficit, falling to Northwestern on Saturday at Paragon Star Sports Complex, 3-1.

The visiting Raiders put up three goals in the first 23 minutes of action as Avila's offense wasn't able to match the early scoring.

Entering halftime trailing by three, the Eagles were able to get one back off the foot of Isabel Javier, who put Avila on the scoreboard in the 61st minute.

Despite outshooting Northwestern, 11-10, and attempting 12 corner kicks – including 10 in the second half – compared to Northwestern's two, throughout the 90 minutes, Avila fell to 1-3 on the early season.

The Eagles are back on the pitch soon, getting their first taste of action at The Z on Wednesday, taking on Oklahoma Panhandle State at 2 PM.
