FOURTH-CONSECUTIVE 2-2 DRAW FOR WOMEN’S SOCCER

WINFIELD, Kan. – A fourth-straight 2-2 draw for Avila women's soccer came to be at Southwestern on Wednesday evening, with back-and-forth scoring resulting in another tie for the Eagles.

Avila got off to a quick start, with a great goal from Samantha Lasater coming in the first two minutes of play. Known more for her distribution, the goal was Lasater's first of her college career.

The Eagle lead was brief as the Moundbuilders answered back in the seventh minute to tie the score at 1-1 – a scoreline which would remain for the rest of the first half.

Lydia Mannino scored her second goal in the last three matches in the 60th minute to give the Eagles another short-lived lead.

Mannino's five goals currently lead all Avila goal scorers this season and the junior from Pleasant Hill is on a three-game point streak.

As was the case in the first half, Southwestern answered back quickly, tying the game at 2-2 with a 65th-minute goal.

Neither team achieved many more opportunities for the rest of the game, but Southwestern had a corner kick opportunity in the 86th minute that did not materialize and the team's ended the match with a 2-2 draw.

Still on a seven-game unbeaten streak, Avila will look to get in the win column as they return to Kansas City to take on Bethel on Saturday afternoon at 12 PM from The Z.
