HILLSBORO, Kan. – Avila women's soccer dropped back-to-back games for the first time since 2023 with a 4-2 loss at Tabor on Saturday.
The hometown Bluejays opened the scoring first with a goal in the 12th minute and the two teams entered the half with the Eagles trailing 1-0.
Ten minutes into the second, Avila got on the scoreboard and ended up taking the lead.
In the 52nd minute, Lydia Mannino lined up for a free kick into the box, the ball bounced off Annika Holtorf before Joselyn Clark headed it past the keeper to the tie the game at 1-1.
Four minutes later, Avila took the lead.
Samantha Lasater stole the ball off the foot of a Tabor defender, sprinted 20 yards and buried the ball in the back of the net, giving Avila a 2-1 lead.
Tabor would add three more goals in the final 12 minutes of play – including a deep shot from 35 yards out and two off a free kick within 30 seconds of each other.
Avila had a free kick opportunity from 20 yards out with under nine minutes to play, but couldn't capitalize and would head back to Kansas City with a 4-2 defeat.
The Eagles are back on the road for the next match, traveling to St. Mary to visit the Spires on Wednesday at 5 PM.
