WOMEN’S SOCCER WRAPS UP HOME SEASON WITH LOSS TO NO. 5 OKWU

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The fifth-ranked team in the country supplied too much offense for Avila women's soccer on Wednesday, as Oklahoma Wesleyan defeated Avila, 3-0, at The Z.

The visitors from Bartlesville put up all three goals in the first half – all from Laura Gieseler.

The third and final goal came on a free kick after a questionable foul was called on Avila.

Playing in the defensive half for the majority of the game, Avila's defense and goalkeeper Jocelyn Zettergren were always on their toes. Defending 19 total shots on the afternoon, the hometown Eagles allowed just two goals in open play. 

Lexi Nicholson and Hope Hines supplied Avila's offense on the day, registering the team's two lone shots on the afternoon.

Playing their final game at The Z this season, Avila will wrap up the regular season on Saturday at Kansas Wesleyan, with kickoff slated for 2 PM.
