SALINA, Kan. – Avila women's soccer wrapped up the regular season with a 2-0 loss at Kansas Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon.
The hometown Coyotes scored once in the 23rd minute, following a free kick where the ball pinballed around the box and found the foot of a Coyote attacker to take an early lead.
Avila had four shots in the first half but was unable to find the back of the net and entered halftime trailing 1-0.
Kansas Wesleyan converted early in the second half of a header from a corner kick to extend their lead to 2-0.
The Eagles only managed two second-half shots and were unable to score as they saw the game end 2-0.
Annika Holtorf led the Eagles with two shots on goal, while Isabel Javier, Lauren Shrout and Samantha Lasater attempted one each.
