TENNIS LOSES IN HOME MATCHES TO EVANGEL
OLATHE, Kan. – Hosting their second home events in program history, Avila tennis took learning opportunities on Saturday, with a 7-0 men's loss and a 6-1 women's loss to the Evangel Valor at the College Boulevard Activity Center.
On the women's side, Avila won both the #1 singles and #1 doubles matches with impressive fortitude and resilience.
The #1 women's doubles match saw the pairing of Danielle Jean-Louis and Kylee Bragaw pick up a 6-4 win in a closely-contested match.
Jean-Louis put together another big performance in the #1 singles match, fighting back to win 5-7, 7-6, 10-7 in a two-hour super-tiebreaker.
A number of Eagle women had impressive performances in the loss, including #2 doubles: Tia Wilsher and Alaeyah Chleborad, who fought hard before falling 3-6.
Wilsher also played strongly in her #3 singles match, keeping it close before losing 4-6, 2-6.
The Avila men were led by the #1 doubles team of Drue Coen and Caige Bjornstad, who lost 2-6. Additionally, #3 doubles team of Brady Darr and Aidan Vandergrift played a tight match, losing 1-6.
Both squads will travel to Bartlesville, Okla., on Wednesday to take on Oklahoma Wesleyan at 1 PM before hosting Sterling on Saturday, April 5 at Grain Valley High School.
