YORK, Neb. – After letting go of an 11-point fourth-set lead, Avila volleyball dropped Saturday's match at York, 3-1 (21-25, 21-25, 25-19, 24-26).
A strong performance by season-long contributors Megan Davies (13 kills), Daphne Gardner (44 assists) and Paige Huhman (13 kills), kept the Eagles in the match all afternoon. Gardner's 44 assists were a season-high
Freshman Payton Hofer put up the best performance of her collegiate career, tallying a career-high 11 kills while hitting .250.
Avila kept each dropped set to within four points while taking the third set by six.
The Eagles are back on the road as the travel to Southwestern on Wednesday at 7:30. Avila returns to at Mabee Fieldhouse on Friday at 6 PM as they take on Kansas Wesleyan.
