KANSAS CITY, Mo. – In the penultimate game of their season, Avila volleyball was swept by the KCAC's No. 4 team, Evangel, on Wednesday night at Mabee Fieldhouse.
All three sets ended 25-17 in favor of Evangel.
The Eagles kept it close in each set, but the third set is where Evangel took control and put the match out of reach.
The Valor scored eight of the first 10 points and eventually led 20-12 before Avila fought back to bring it to its eventual 25-17 final.
Daphne Gardner (14) and Lexi Schimpa (11) were the two Avila players with double-digits in assists, while Sophia Giorgio (14) and Maddie Jones (12) racked up double-figure dig numbers.
Avila (9-21, 3-9 KCAC) will play its Senior Day on Saturday at 2:30 PM versus McPherson.
