HATFIELD AND TAYLOR SHINE IN DUAL VERSUS OTTAWA
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Facing late-season injuries and illness, Avila women's wrestling dropped a dual to Ottawa on Thursday, 35-11, but picked up a pair of victories from Alexis Hatfield and Chloe Taylor on Senior Night.
As one of four seniors being honored prior to the dual, reigning All-American Alexis Hatfield got a 10-0 tech fall over Sydnee Baldwin in just 2:45 in the 110-pound division.
Hatfield was joined in the victory column by Chloe Taylor. The junior from Platte City, Mo., dominated her match, pinning Kaydence Bonewell in just 68 seconds.
A packed Mabee Fieldhouse was on hand to honor the seniors of the women's and men's wrestling programs and they were able to cheer on Hatfield and Taylor's victories.
Avila gave up 15 points in the dual because of three opens in the 145, 160 and 207-pound classes.
The Eagles have a quick turnaround as they will travel to Oklahoma City on Sunday for the KCAC/SAC dual, beginning at 9 AM.
