Bill Sloan will begin his fourth season as the head coach for the Avila University men's basketball team in the 2019-20 season.

Under his tenure, the Eagles have earned several all-conference player accolades, highlighted by Shandon Boone's back-to-back appearances in 2018 and 2019. Boone was named a third team all-KCAC selection as a junior, following up on his second team all-HAAC nod as a sophomore, with senior Tajh Downs joining him as an honorable mention honoree.

Sloan joined the Avila coaching staff in 2014 as an assistant under Rodney Perry, after serving as the top assistant coach at Kansas City Kansas Community College for nearly 20 years spread across two stints. His first tour of duty spanned 1991-98, and he returned from 2002-13. During his time with the Blue Devils, he helped develop a number of players for four-year institutions, including David Nurse (Western Illinois), Brandon Morris (University of Houston) and Brad Cleaver (Morehead State University).
