KENAN EBEL TAKES HOME DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS FOR SECOND TIME
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Continuing her stellar performance all season long, Avila women's soccer goalkeeper Kenan Ebel was named the KCAC's Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
It is Ebel's second time taking home the honor (Sept. 9).
"I am extremely proud of Kenan and her demeanor throughout the season," noted Avila head coach Katie LaForge. "She has performed on the field like the leader she is and she does amazing things every day for this group. My staff and I are very pleased to see her getting recognized for her outstanding play for the second time this season."
In two wins this week, Ebel saved every shot she faced in open play.
Ebel recorded her fifth shutout of the season in Wednesday's 3-0 victory at Ottawa, saving four shots. She followed up that performance with a near-shutout on Saturday versus Bethany, with her lone goal allowed coming off a penalty kick.
She joins Saint Mary's Marisol Vargas as the only players to win KCAC Defensive Player of the Week two times this season.
Avila travels to Tabor on Saturday for their final regular season road game of the season. Kickoff is slated for 1 PM.
