WOMEN’S SOCCER NOTCHES THIRD-STRAIGHT DRAW

STERLING, Kan. – In what is becoming a common occurrence, Avila women's soccer recorded its third-consecutive 2-2 draw on Saturday at Sterling.

On their home field, the Warriors struck first in the 17^th minute, but Avila would answer back almost immediately.

In the 19^th minute, Danielle Desmarteau scored off a great pass from Lydia Mannino to even the score up. It was Desmarteau's first goal of the season and second of her young career.

Six minutes later, Sterling would take the lead once again in the 26^th minute and enter the half leading 2-1.

The Eagles and their captain would tie the game up early in the second half.

Annika Holtorf – from more than 30 yards away – pounded a ball over the keeper's head in the 29^th minute to even the game up once again. It was the senior's third goal of the season.

Continuing her strong play for Avila was goalkeeper Mia Kristensen, who stopped 12 of 14 shots she faced and brought her GAA on the season to 1.67.

Riding a six-game unbeaten streak, Avila is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Southwestern for a 5 PM kickoff from Winfield.
