MEN’S TENNIS HAS BIG WEEKEND IN ILLINOIS

ILLINOIS – Avila men's tennis picked up a pair of solid wins this weekend, defeating NCAA D-III Illinois College, 6-1 on Sunday and Kaskaskia College, 7-0 on Sunday. On the women's side, the Eagles lost to Illinois College 6-1 and 4-3 to Kaskaskia despite winning every match played.

Against Illinois College, the men swept all three doubles matches and got wins in five of its six singles matches. Axel Scott (6-0, 6-1), Daniel Lozano (6-1, 6-7, 10-4), Hayden Carillo (6-1, 6-0), Brendan Honn (7-5, 6-7, 11-9) and Ben Drinkwater (7-5, 7-6) each received wins in singles and doubles.

In #1 singles on the women's side, Dani Jean-Louis notched a 7-5, 7-6 victory.

Against Kaskaskia on Sunday, the women lost 4-3 despite winning each of its matches due to only traveling three.

Jean-Louis (6-0, 6-0), Emma Koenigseder (7-5, 4-6, 10-5) and Alaeyah Chleborad (6-0, 6-3) all notched wins.

For the men, the Eagles swept all three doubles and all six singles matches in the route over Kaskaskia. 

The two programs open up conference play on Thursday at Tabor, beginning at 2 PM.
